The commemoration of November 13 – Cetinje Liberation Day began with the laying of wreaths at the Memorial Ossuary.
Wreaths were laid by the Mayor of Cetinje, Nikola Đurašković, the President of the Assembly of the Capital City, Milena Vujačić, and the President of the Association of Fighters of the National Liberation War and anti-fascists of Cetinje, Stevan Radunović.
Đurašković recalled the importance of November 13, emphasizing that the culture of memory and the constant need for additional learning of national history must be passed on to the younger generations, who "can and must find their inspiration for further work and progress in the examples of our heroic predecessors", it was announced from the capital.
"The liberation of Cetinje and the victory of anti-fascism in the Second World War were paid dearly with the lives of our heroic ancestors. It is our duty to preserve the memory of their glorious deeds, to respect the values of anti-fascism, freedom and equality among people. If today, through civil and democratic means, through dialogue and tolerance, we defend those values, their sacrifice and their struggle were not in vain. This is our greatest obligation both to them and to our descendants, but also to the state, which is built on those values," concluded the mayor of Cetinje.
In memory of the martyred patriots, Đurašković, Vujačić and Radunović also laid wreaths at the Vlach church.
