LABMA: Memorandum on cooperation in the field of maritime and underwater cultural heritage was signed

The Administration for the Protection of Cultural Property and the Kotor Maritime Faculty have signed a memorandum of cooperation for the purpose of scientific and professional cooperation in the field of maritime and underwater cultural heritage, the Laboratory for Maritime Archeology announced.

The memorandum was signed by the Director of the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Property Maja Ćetković and the Dean of the Maritime Faculty in Kotor, Špiro Ivošević.

The document envisages cooperation on the realization of scientific and research projects related to the subject of maritime and underwater cultural heritage of Montenegro.

The goal is to support development that will ensure greater recognition of underwater cultural heritage, as well as its promotion through the use of digital technologies, the announcement states.

They point out that, "the institutions will closely cooperate on all aspects of the implementation of the UNESCO 2001 Convention on the Protection of Underwater Cultural Heritage, as well as on the development of modern systems for its protection".

As they say, the construction of a database of the underwater cultural heritage of Montenegro is also planned.

Institutions will exchange data, work on digitization of underwater cultural heritage, its documentation and application of remote detection methods.

"We will cooperate in the organization of scientific seminars, cultural manifestations, in the implementation of educational programs, exhibitions and promotions related to the attractive underwater cultural heritage of Montenegro," the announcement concludes.
