The traditionally good relations between Montenegro and North Macedonia are reflected in the successful cooperation between the two Ministries of the Interior and effective police cooperation that results in numerous joint actions aimed at preventing criminal activities in the region, it was announced at the meeting between the Minister of the Interior Filip Adžić and his Macedonian colleague Oliver Spasovski, held in Skopje.
Adžić, as announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, especially praised the work of the criminal police teams that successfully carried out activities in the fight against organized crime, arms smuggling, drugs and human trafficking.
The interlocutors also referred to the area of migration, which is the topic of the two-day ministerial conference, and expressed the expectation that joint activities, defined through the Declaration adopted at the conference, will further improve the management of the system and promote further regional and bilateral cooperation.
Congratulating the interlocutor on the recently achieved success of North Macedonia in opening accession negotiations with the EU, Adžić said that this country can count on the full help and support of Montenegro in the reform process, bearing in mind that Montenegro has already "implemented a large number of activities and achieved good results", which is why it is "recognized as a leader in the region".
"The ministers additionally agreed that the focus of further cooperation should be directed towards the intensification of activities aimed at combating organized crime in the region, and through various initiatives and platforms with the aim of strengthening border security, combating illegal migration and related activities," it concludes. in the announcement.
