The independent police union announced that it has already been 14 days since the Government of Montenegro submitted the budget proposal for 2023 to the Parliament and that it has announced an increase in the salaries of police officers, and they still do not know how much the increase is.
"Is it so miserable that the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior must gather the courage to tell us about it for 14 days? Are they so afraid of the reaction of the police officers," states the statement signed by the President of the Trade Union, Igor Rmandić.
He also says that in the meantime they could hear that an increase is planned for some other parts of the state administration - IT experts 30 percent, news from yesterday.
"Donations are promised to countries that spend those same donations on buying weapons and killing people, but no one mentions how much the salary will be increased for social cases who work in the Ministry of the Interior for around 300 euros," the statement said.
He wonders how much the Prime Minister and Minister have prepared for that increase?
"Will it increase everyone's salaries, and what will be left for the police according to the good old custom? Mathematically speaking, even 0,1 percent is an increase, but seen from the perspective of a citizen who pays more and more expensive food, clothing, and fuel every day, we are not interested or satisfied by the crumbs our needs," the announcement reads.
Having been taught by past experience, they state that it would not surprise them in general, and the whole scenario that is probably in store for them, as they say, can be compared to football.
"Several football coaches were lucky or unlucky to coach Mario Balotelli, an excellent player, but very naughty and very undisciplined. They put up with him only because he 'did' his job well, i.e. scored goals when it was most needed. It seems that our the prime minister has his 'Ballotelli'. This local is so mischievous, undisciplined and compromised that they hide him and bring him to secret meetings through the garage, but all his mortgages are insignificant compared to the 'goals' he gives. Obstruction of protests by police officers, passivization and suffocation any dissatisfaction of the policemen, deceiving colleagues by saying that tomorrow is better 'as long as it isn't', completely making no sense of any trade union struggle is only part of the 'goal-scoring arsenal' of Prime Minister 'Balotelli', whom he himself, relatively recently, accused of some abuses", it is added in announcement.
He says that how else can one interpret that for months, even years, the prosecution and the police do not take any action regarding reports of abuses in the Union of the Police Administration?
"How to interpret that the Ethics Committee of the Ministry of the Interior has been unable to solve the report for violation of the Code of Police Ethics by the first man of that union for four months? The cases are sitting in some drawer, and 'Balotelli' plays in every position in the team where he is told. And don't ask the question, it's important that it's in the game. Well, gentlemen, we're not interested in your games and secret deals. We want a dignified life for ourselves and our families. If you thought you were going to drag it out until the last minute and then make us some miserable offer on the principle of 'take it or leave it', and after that, through your henchmen, you convince people to accept it and put pressure on us to forget about it. We only trust our eyes and ears, and we give trust only by actions, not by empty promises," it is stated in announcement.
Mr. Prime Minister, Mr. Minister, don't you think that those who are ready to give everything, even their lives, for this society and this country, deserve a little more respect and a life worthy of a human being, the announcement reads.
"Present your offer so that, as serious people, we sit down at the table and talk. No mortgages from the past, no purchased diplomas, no missing square footage. Clean and serious. On equal grounds, of course," they conclude in a statement.
