Animal Survival International (ASI) responded to the previous allegations of the owner of the property "Animal Shelter and Recovery Montenegro", published in "Vijesti" on December 4, under the title "The fate of love, the shame of Montenegro", again reacted Miljan Milickovic.

We transmit the response in its entirety:

"First of all, I want to inform the public that in our park, the largest reserve in Europe is being built for the bear Ljuba, which will be used by only one bear.

The conceptual solution of the reserve was positively evaluated by the biggest experts in the world who deal with large forest animals, as well as by the managers of the most famous shelters for bears in the region, where I was a guest this summer.

"Love's fate is the shame of Montenegro"

For its construction, we have the full support of the state of Montenegro.

Considering that this is not new, but the construction of the bear reserve started at the beginning of September, the attacks of the ASI organization are not random, but very planned, with the support of local organizations and individuals, which are not driven by love for animals, but by an obsessive hatred for everything I work, for the simple reason that for many years, I have been working completely free of charge in my country for the benefit of animal welfare and nature protection.

What is worrying for me and from which I have a human obligation to publicly disassociate myself is that this international organization collects money around the world for an animal that, fully in accordance with the laws of Montenegro, is housed in its own country.

The edited heartbreaking video circulating on the internet, which was marketed and sponsored by ASI to reach more naive people, is based on false information and a sad sensitive story that can easily extort money from the ignorant inhabitants of the planet. Where does that money end up?

Who can have control over the inflows of those bank accounts that are filled daily thanks to naive people who believe that there is a bear in Montenegro that supposedly eats its own paws, waiting to be served a dinner consisting of moldy food, which we supposedly feed it...

Amounts of money raised in such actions can be in the millions, and in non-governmental organizations they are used to pay salaries, contributions, official trips, vehicles, official real estate, and in this way such money becomes completely legal.

I don't want to be someone who will in any way disrupt anyone's business or existence on this planet, but I am simply compelled to tell the truth in order to protect my honor and reputation.

What I know for sure is that this money will certainly not be invested in the welfare of this animal, although naive people donate for that very purpose.

The current accommodation for the brown bear Ljuba was built entirely according to the standards clearly prescribed by the Rulebook on the Closer Conditions of Keeping and Breeding of Protected Wild Animal Species of Montenegro.

In addition, several state expert commissions had the opportunity to be convinced of the regularity and quality of the accommodation for bears, which, following and respecting the Law on Nature Protection, gave positive opinions on the accommodation, after which the EPA issued a permit to keep it.

"Absolutely every accommodation for animals within our park is built according to valid state regulations, and our goal is that each of them increases over time and is built in as humane conditions as possible, which we will strive for as much as possible and in accordance with the laws that we impeccably respect," it was concluded. in response.
