International Human Rights Day is an occasion to once again send the message that human rights, although guaranteed by the Constitution and numerous domestic and international declarations, are primarily given to each person by birth, said Vesna Vučković, Acting President of the Supreme Court of Montenegro.
"The principles from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights were the foundation for the construction of international law in this area and the system of promotion and protection of human rights, as a unique civilizational legacy of the modern era," says Vučković in a press release from the Public Relations Service of the Supreme Court of Montenegro.
Our obligation, she says, is to preserve, strengthen and further develop human rights standards, but also to control the fulfillment of the obligations assumed.
"Despite the progress that Montenegro has made in this field, we are witnessing that many guaranteed human rights are still being violated," she emphasized.
He says that therefore we all have to work together to raise public awareness of what human rights are and continue to build effective mechanisms for the safe expression of all kinds of particularities.
"This is the only way, as a society, we will be able to say that we respect guaranteed human rights, which are one of the strongest indicators of an organized state," concluded Vučković.
