Several trees in the park in the tourist resort "Slovenska plaža" were cut down.
This is the only green oasis in Budva and eight years ago the Municipality had the intention of buying the land from the Hotel Group "Budva Riviera" to protect it.
"Disturbed by the felling of trees in the park on Slovenska beach, today we will gather as a group of citizens to try to find an answer to the question of why this is being done," the Movement announced on November 22.
HG Budvanska Riviera announced:
"At the request of the Budvanska Riviera Hotel Group, the Faculty of Biotechnics of the University of Montenegro carried out an analysis to examine the conifer trees in the park of the Slovenska Plaža Tourist Resort. It was established that 58 trees were diseased and there was a possibility that they could endanger guests, citizens and facilities.
For this reason, the Budva Riviera Hotel Group undertook a felling action before the 2022 season, when 13 trees were removed. During the season, a situation occurred in which one pine tree fell, but fortunately without consequences for safety.
Now, according to the Elaborate, we have removed the other trees. The next step is the removal of tree roots, which, due to the specificity of the roots, we will not be able to remove only by digging, but we will have to hire companies that specialize in this type of work.
We will plant new ones in the places where there were trees in the future. As this is a large and expensive investment, we will carry it out in phases," they explained.
Utilities: The location is not within our jurisdiction
The utility company refrained from cutting down trees within the "Slovenska Plaža" tourist resort, stating that this location is not within their jurisdiction.
"We would like to make an announcement about the video that somewhere disturbed our fellow citizens. The main activity of our RJ Zelenilo is the maintenance of public green areas on the territory of the Municipality of Budva. However, the maintenance of public green areas means those public areas that are foreseen, that is, included in the annual maintenance plan and program.
"We want to point out that the activities of tree removal at the location of the 'Slovenska plaže' park are not the activities of the Budva Communal Company, that is, our RJ Zelenilo, and that the maintenance of this location is not foreseen in our annual program," the company points out.
