Miljanić spoke about anti-corruption initiatives in Skopje

Minister without portfolio Zoran Miljanić led the delegation of Montenegro at the Regional Anti-Corruption Conference in Skopje.

The conference was dedicated to the implementation of the Regional Roadmap initiative for the fight against corruption and illegal financial flows, which is implemented within the framework of the Berlin process, his cabinet announced.

The participants were representatives of North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania and Montenegro, with the presence of the head of the EU Delegation in Skopje, David Geer, the deputy US ambassador to North Macedonia, Eric Meyer, and the representative of the UK Ministry of Internal Affairs, Suzy Dajkin.

The conference was opened by the Vice President of the Government of North Macedonia, Slavica Grkovska.

"The meeting was an opportunity to exchange opinions on regional cooperation in the priority areas of the Roadmap - prevention and fight against corruption in public procurement, strengthening the system for reporting conflicts of interest and property, and improving the response of the criminal justice system to corruption and economic crimes. All participants were announced that their governments give full political support to the overall activities aimed at fighting corruption in the countries of the Western Balkans as part of the Roadmap implemented as part of the Berlin Process," the announcement states.

Miljanić informed the participants about the anti-corruption initiatives implemented by the Government in cooperation with partner countries and about the drafting of the Strategy for the fight against corruption, which will be the umbrella document for further anti-corruption measures in Montenegro.

The conference was organized by the Government of North Macedonia with the support of the United Nations Office against Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative and the Government of the United Kingdom.
