Ten agricultural producers from Nikšić, thanks to the Society of Young Ecologists Nikšić (DMEN), received composters, so they will be able to turn plant waste into humus, which is used for fertilizing.
"Practicing composting will reduce the burning of plant waste, especially during the preparation of gardens and plantations for sowing. In the end, the development of composting will contribute to the reduction of air pollution, because plant waste will no longer be destroyed by burning," said the Society of Young Ecologists.
They got composters Slavica Tadic, Nebojsa Jasikovac, Slobodan Vujadinović, Boško Miličić, Slavica Delibasic, Ratko Bataković, Ivana Nikolic, Dragica Mirjačić, Slavisa Samardzic i Boris Đurković.
"They will spread this concept, presenting its advantages in their immediate environment and thus support the establishment of an ecologically sustainable model of plant waste management, which is the general goal of the project," the environmentalist's announcement states.
The composters were distributed as part of the project "Contribution to increasing the level of composting in the local community", which aimed, among other things, to increase the level of awareness of agricultural producers about the positive aspects of composting plant waste.
The project lasted four months, and the composter distribution was its final activity.
"Special emphasis was given to the campaign through the organization's social networks. Within this part, an eco-quiz with ten questions promoting composting was implemented. The users who gave the correct and fastest answers won T-shirts with the project logo and promotional messages," said the DMEN announcement.
The project was financed by the Directorate for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs.
