While today on one side the Day of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje was celebrated, where politicians handed out awards to each other for their contribution to this municipality, on the other side a crime was taking place against that municipality and what was left of it - the "Dušan Korać" Elementary School was being demolished, one of the oldest schools in Montenegro.

This is stated in the press release by the NGO "Euromost", adding that at the same time, old trees, which were in front of the school, were cut down in an uncontrolled manner.

They add that "Dušan Korać" elementary school started its work 89 years ago, in 1934 to be exact.

"We call on the competent prosecutor's office, the Ministry of Culture and other competent institutions to investigate this crime, which happened to our city and this school," the statement reads. This NGO also asked the citizens of Bijelo Polje why they are silent.

"Isn't this school that has existed for over 89 years and these trees memories for thousands of our fellow citizens who attended this school, isn't it a memory for those who are no longer among us, should every trace of the existence of Bijelo Polje be destroyed," concludes Euromost.
