Europe now: Provide free electricity to the citizens of Pljevlja during the heating season

The initial committee of the Europe Now Movement in Pljevlje asked the Government of Montenegro to provide free electricity for all citizens of Pljevlje during the heating season from October 1st to April 1st.

The European Movement is now asking the Government to finally implement the city heating project.

"We consider it devastating that the city, which is the backbone of the national economy, has been brought to the level of an ecological disaster through negligence and carelessness, as shown by the parameters of the official institutions. As the situation in Pljevje is alarming, we ask the Government of Montenegro to urgently take all possible steps in order to solve and suppress air pollution in the long term and to provide the citizens of Pljevje with free electricity until the final realization of the city heating project. energy for the duration of the heating season (from 01.10.-01.04.) If we take into account the fact that only Thermal Power Plant "Pljevlja" produces electricity worth one million euros per day, why does the same power plant, which contributes a lot to the ecological image of Pljevlja, not could work for a certain period of the year, i.e. ten days a year, only for the people of Pljevlja. We believe that subsidies for electricity in the amount of 100% in the heating season, and until the completion of the heating of the city, would improve the air quality in our Municipality to a greater extent", the announcement states. They appeal "to all political entities in Pljevlja, as well as ticket holders from the recently held local elections, to prove their political capacity and put the interests of their city and fellow citizens before the interests of the headquarters from Podgorica".

"By standing side by side with us in the fight for basic and constitutionally guaranteed rights for every citizen of Pljevlja without exception, and to remain persistent in this plan, and as a last resort to reason with the Government, we do not rule out general protests and blocking the operation of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant. Let's prove that our citizens are more important than armchairs", reads the statement of the Initiative Committee of the Europe Now Movement.
