The Ministry of Health condemned last night's attack on a doctor in the unit of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance (ZHMP) in Podgorica.
"We strongly condemn the attack on the doctor who was the victim of violent behavior and aggression by unscrupulous individuals last night," the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
They point out that it is unacceptable for healthcare workers who have dedicated their lives and working lives to a humane calling to be exposed to insults, verbal and physical attacks while performing their work.
"We expect the competent authorities to take all the measures available by law as soon as possible and in this way show that the state truly protects the interests of the most humane people," the statement said.
They add that a quick reaction of the competent authorities is necessary in order to relieve the public as soon as possible, which was disturbed by the scenes after the traffic accident in the Lokve tunnel a few days ago, "in which one person died, and the emergency medical team was subjected to attacks and public lynching while was performing her task".
"The goal is that these unpleasant scenes never happen again and that health workers are enabled to perform their work professionally and with quality, which requires the help of the entire society, from institutions to citizens," concluded the Ministry of Health.
