The employees of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance (ZHMP), which has 22 units, gathered today in several cities to protest with half-hour rallies after the latest attack on the doctor of the ZHMP unit in Podgorica, and for thirty seconds they symbolically turned on the sirens ambulances.

During a meeting in Podgorica, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Filip Adžić, proposed that the Ministry of Health consider hiring private security, the RTCG portal reports.

He said that they have about 1.500 officers in the MUP, that is, they do not have enough to provide constant security.

"The Minister of the Interior, Filip Adžić, supported the employees of the units of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance who gathered today, appealing for them to be allowed to work without fear of being exposed to unpleasant events. Addressing the medical workers gathered in Podgorica, the minister expressed understanding of the weight and responsibility of their humane call," the Ministry of Interior announced.

Adžić reminded, as they state, that since last year, the MUP has made it possible for police officers to visit health institutions every day. "Certainly, the unpleasant scenes we witnessed impose the need to intensify our activities in that direction, and we will intensify the tours in the coming period," said the minister.

"The Ministry of Internal Affairs is also working to strengthen staffing capacities, which will certainly create the preconditions for police officers to be more present in health care institutions and thus provide better protection for employees. The state will adequately respond to all attempts to threaten the safety of health care workers," the statement concludes. .

Yesterday, the Institute announced that they want to send a message to the public that the harassment and humiliation of healthcare workers must stop.

The ZHMP Trade Union announced today that they will soon launch initiatives to ensure adequate physical security of the facilities, in the specific case of the units of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance. They pointed out that the medical profession, that is, the medical staff, has recently been the target of physical attacks by patients.

Two people were arrested after an attack on a doctor in the ZHMP unit in Podgorica on Sunday evening.

Director of ZHMP Vuk Niković said today, in Boje jutra on TV Vijesti, that it is the last moment to send a message to the citizens that health workers are there for them and that they must protect the dignity of the profession, because the situation is alarming.

Milena Popović Samardžić, president of the Union of Doctors of Medicine of Montenegro, said that she was concerned that the application of the law that treats an attack on a doctor while providing medical assistance as a criminal offense has not been implemented in practice, since the prosecution is the latest attack on a doctor in the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance in Podgorica. qualified only as violent behavior.

In the announcement, she indicated, among other things, that an attack on a doctor who provides medical assistance leads to disruption of the work process and threatens the timely provision of medical assistance to patients who depend on the doctor who suffered violence.
