The Europe Now Movement (PES) condemned every type of attack on healthcare workers, saying that they expected to provide increased legal protection for healthcare workers, through the acquisition of the status of an official or some alternative model.

Member of the Main Board of that party, Dr. Vojislav Šimun, said that it is inappropriate that those whose work is dedicated to the well-being of every human being are often exposed to insults on public platforms and social networks, and even physical attacks by unscrupulous individuals. This, as he stated, indicates compromised safety in the workplace and their degraded social position.

"Given the increasing frequency of such unpleasant events, it is imperative that the competent institutions take adequate measures to increase the level of safety at the workplace of all employees in the health care system of Montenegro. We expect that, in addition to public condemnations, work on concrete solutions in terms of review "proportionality of the current punishment with symbolic fines for acts that endanger the work and life of medical personnel, and to ensure an increase in the legal protection of health workers through the acquisition of the status of an official or some alternative model," said Šimun.

He said that the presence of members of the MUP in public health institutions would contribute to an increase in the level of security, both for medical personnel and for patients, and thereby improve the functionality and safety of the work process.

"Given the complexity of the genesis of this problem, as well as its far-reaching consequences, in addition to appeals to competent institutions, understanding and support from all citizens is necessary - so the whole society is on the move," Šimun concluded.
