All cases of poaching, which were recorded in 2021 and 2022, occurred on the territory of protected areas, the animals killed were species protected by law and all were shot before, during and immediately after the mating season.
This was announced yesterday by the Center for the Protection and Study of Birds, an organization that also implements programs concerning large animals, including wolves and bears.
From that NGO, they also presented graphics that describe cases of poaching and what, according to their analysis, is common to each of them.
They remind us that in April 2021, a doe was killed on the territory of Durmitor National Park, a bear was killed a month later in Dragišnica, and that in November of the same year, a deer was killed on the territory of Biogradska Gora National Park. The analysis also includes the case of the murder of a wildebeest in December 2022, in the Durmitor National Park.
"In all four cases, according to police reports, poaching was carried out mainly by young people," the CZIP states.
In all four cases, as they said, supervisors in protected areas or the police found carcasses or parts of shot game.
"In the first three cases, the police detained the suspects for poaching, the murder of the deer is still pending. In no case has the public been informed about the verdicts issued by the competent court", said the NGO.
They also said that "continuous attempts to relativize the problem of poaching in Montenegro by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, as well as the Hunting Association, as by inertia, are denied by those who skillfully hide behind the curtain of such a discourse".
