The President of the Board of Directors of the company "Regionalni vodovod Crnogorsko promorje" Zoran Lakušić warned that the illegal exploitation of gravel in the bed of the Morača river is still being carried out.
"It is commendable that the relocation of the asphalt base of the Technopath was prevented, but illegal separations are working smoothly this morning! The state should have implemented the laws much earlier, to prosecute persons who are still stealing state property, destroying the environment, and usurping state land. The state has all the mechanisms to to demolish illegal separations, to confiscate machines used to commit criminal acts and prosecute those responsible and collect damages," Lakušić wrote on Facebook.
He said that the illegal exploitation of gravel and sand is still being carried out and that there are still no adequate sanctions for it.
"Everything depends on the actions of the competent institutions, and bearing in mind the importance of the source of Bolje Sestre for the overall socio-economic development of Montenegro, it is necessary that, along with the Regional Waterworks and the scientific community, all relevant state bodies that are institutionally in charge and responsible for the state of the environment and water management.
"It is necessary to use joint forces to remove the separations and stop the illegal exploitation of gravel, and finally put an end to the devastation, the consequences of which are disastrous for the environment, the source of the Bolje sestre and, of course, for the water supply of the Montenegrin coast, on the successful functioning of which the revenues generated by summer tourist season," concluded Lakušić.
