The third day of the unsuccessful search for the boy from Herceg Novi

The search for the boy NV (13) from Herceg Novi, who was swept away by the sea on Tuesday evening from the plateau under the promenade "Pet Danica" near the hotel "Plaža" in Herceg Novi, was still unsuccessful today.

Due to bad weather conditions, the activities were suspended around 14 pm. Until then, the search participants had done everything they could at sea, under the sea and from the air. The search, weather permitting, will continue tomorrow.

At sea today were the vessels of several state authorities and services of UPSUL, the Navy of the Army of Montenegro, the Police Administration, the Port Authority of Kotor, RCUD and several private companies with which UPSUL cooperates during interventions in emergency situations at sea.

Personnel from the Herceg Novi Protection and Rescue Service were also engaged, and today the drones of UPSUL and the Directorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Interior are involved in the search from the air.

For the first time, the vessels of the Fisheries Directorate, i.e. the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Seismology of Montenegro, equipped with underwater cameras and special 3D sonars, which, among other things, can detect the body of a possibly drowned person at the bottom of the sea, participated in the search.

"The weather conditions today are significantly better than in the previous two days of the search, the waves are smaller and the sea has cleared up a lot, so we expect that RCUD divers will be able to search the seabed today along the entire coastal belt from Škver to Meljin". Žarko Lukšić, head of the Sea Search and Rescue Sector at UPSUL, told "Vijesta" earlier today.

The search for the boy ended yesterday around 15 pm due to the loss of daylight.

The missing child was searched yesterday by nine vessels of the Maritime Safety and Port Management Authority (UPSUL), the Police Administration, the Navy of the Army of Montenegro, the Port Authority of Kotor, as well as private companies that have a contract with UPSUL to assist during interventions in extraordinary events at sea.

From the air, the "bell-412" type helicopter of the Air Force of Croatia searched the waters of the Topalj Bay, and RCUD divers on two occasions searched the underwater area in the immediate vicinity of the location where the boy was dragged from the land by a wave.

Head of search and rescue service at sea in UPSUL Žarko Lukšić, told "Vijesti" that the conditions during yesterday's search were even worse than the day before yesterday, because the waves carried by the strong southwest and west winds were even bigger and more unpredictable, and the opportunities for divers in the seabed were even more difficult due to strong currents and great turbidity sea ​​water.

At one point, the waves even threw one of the two UPSUL scooters that search the most dangerous area ashore, but luckily the operator of that vessel was not injured.
