The non-governmental organization "Euromost" called on the Government of Montenegro to urgently prepare plans for flood defense with the municipalities from the north and introduce them to the citizens in their municipalities.

They also invited them to first repair all the current damage to infrastructures and households and start working together on preventive action.

They emphasized that everyone must take climate change seriously, act preventively and be ready to help the population when floods occur.

In its announcement, Euromost also submitted a video, on which, as they say, they recorded the water level of Lim and its tributaries during the last three months.

"Through the recordings, it is clearly seen that every month the water level of Lim and its tributaries increased and that in December and January the water level was the highest where the river Lim and its tributaries overflowed their beds," the announcement states.

According to them, these are warnings that floods will often occur due to heavy rains.

"The current situation on the ground shows us that due to the carelessness of citizens, municipalities and business entities, we expect damages, because on the banks, as well as in other places that are at risk of flooding, large amounts of waste accumulate uncontrollably. A large number of illegal buildings have been built on the very banks of the river and its tributaries, roads and bridges are in bad condition, and large landslides have been triggered," they said.

According to their opinion, the municipalities in the north lack mechanization, and "utility companies are in a bad state", and that although they are doing all they can, they are not ready to protect citizens and their homes, as well as infrastructure from floods or various landslides.

They also believe that the municipalities "are not capable of covering ten percent of the flooded areas in their territory".

For this reason, they emphasize from Euromost, the Government must do something urgently to help the municipalities in the north, in order to better defend themselves and protect citizens, their homes and infrastructure from floods in the future.

They appealed to citizens and business entities to behave more responsibly towards nature and rivers, because, as they say, any irresponsibility will cost us in the future.
