The warning of the Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) that due to the large inflow of water into the hydropower system "Perućica" there is a real danger of flooding in the Budoški bar area, around the channel of the river Zeta and in the area of the Nikšić settlements of Straševina, Kličevo and Ozrinići, worried the residents of the mentioned settlements, so they some of them visited the dam on the Salt Lake to check, as they told "Vijesta", whether the situation was alarming.
"I came with my mother to see what the situation is so that we can evacuate on time, so that we don't wait for the last moment like in 2010. It seems to me that the situation is better now," said a woman from Nikšić who had to "flee" in 2010. of water".
Fishermen who know Slano well think that the water can "rise" another three meters, that there should not be a flood, but they also add that for the first time since 2010, the dam is overflowing.
In 2010, the settlements of Ozrinići, Slivlje, Kličevo and Štedim were flooded, and an additional problem was the clogging of the sinkhole in Slivlje. At that time, about thirty families had to leave the flooded area.
"It's our own fault. The water doesn't get into the houses, but the houses get into the water," commented a resident of Nikšić.
A meeting of representatives of the competent services in Nikšić is scheduled for tomorrow regarding the warning of Elektroprivreda.
This was announced by Elektroprivreda. Reservoirs "Slano" and "Krupac" are overflowing, while the inflow of the Zeta River is 135 m3/s.
As reported by EPCG, the water level in the Vrtac reservoir is constantly rising.
"At HPP 'Perućica', they monitor the hydrological situation, the state of reservoirs and inflows every day, so yesterday, as a precaution, they set the overflow valves at the 'Vrtac' retention at 613,75 meters above sea level so that the elevation would not rise above 614 meters above sea level, which would led to the flooding of land and buildings on the slopes of the Vrtački lake in the local community Štedim," the announcement reads.
Taking into account the current situation, as stated by EPCG, there is a real danger that the overflow will occur during this week, on Thursday or Friday at the latest.
"So we are warning the residents of the mentioned settlements, as well as the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, PJ Nikšić, to take the necessary steps to protect property and people in the areas that gravitate to the hydropower system in Nikšić polje", said Eleketroprivreda.
