Teams of firefighters and rescuers from Podgorica and Nikšić were today in the center of Kahramanmaras, one of the cities most severely affected by the devastating earthquake.
"If that is the case, we were convinced of that on the ground. Our teams were searching the ground together with the police and AFAD with machinery at the location where three buildings with a total of 450 apartments were razed to the ground. Tomorrow we will continue the search of the same location. Today, around 20 victims were pulled out of our location and, luckily for everyone, a three-year-old child was alive," Slavko Tadić, commander of the Nikšić Protection and Rescue Service, told "Vijesta". .
He leads a group of 11 firefighters-rescuers from Nikšić, and there are also 19 of their colleagues from Podgorica.
"Our teams are fine. We have no communication during the day while we are working, so we only call late at night when we are done," said Tadić and added that the situation is extremely difficult.
