UPSUL received a call for help from "Fearless", the yacht eventually sailed into the territorial waters of Albania

The Maritime Operations Center of the Maritime Safety and Port Management Administration of Montenegro (UPSUL) received a call last night at 23.10:XNUMX p.m. from a yacht that it was in danger from the yacht "Fearless".

The vessel registered in the US state of Delaware had four crew members - Turkish nationals - who requested evacuation from the yacht approximately 32 miles south of the port of Bar.

"The sea state was around 5 and the wind speed up to 35 knots. UPSUL, with the assistance of the Border Police Sector, at least in accordance with the Agreement on Integrated Surveillance of the State Border, used a police boat marked '1001' with a mixed crew of two members of the Border Police Sector and two members of the UPSUL. The police patrol boat set sail on a very risky search and rescue operation, given the very bad weather conditions. After an hour and a half, the police boat reached the yacht, which headed towards the Albanian zone of responsibility and refused to stop, of which it was informed RCC Tirana and other competent authorities. Communication with the yacht was difficult due to the poor English spoken by her crew. The yacht was moving all the time towards the coast, where they were intercepted early this morning by an Albanian patrol boat and escorted to the port of Šenđin," he told the News. According to him, the Montenegrin police boat then, due to very bad weather conditions, returned along the coast to Bar and tied up in the port of Bar at dawn.

Lukšić added that, considering the challenging weather conditions that prevailed last night in the water area south of Bar, this was an extremely dangerous action for a vessel such as the police patrol boat '1001', and that the vessel's crew was exposed to great risk.
