I am proud of how the Turkish people perceive the support of Montenegro, this is a permanent pledge not only when it comes to the relations between the two countries, but also the reputation of Podgorica in the international framework, said the mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković.
As stated in the announcement of the Capital City, he said this during the reception he organized for the members of the Protection and Rescue Service from Podgorica, who participated in the rescue mission in the Turkish Kahramanmaras - a city that was severely affected by the devastating earthquake.
Vuković expressed great gratitude for the sacrifice and contribution made by members of this service, risking their own lives, to the pride of Podgorica and Montenegro.
"In this way, we wanted to thank them for the fact that in this difficult situation and during the past four years and since the existence of the Protection and Rescue Service, they have always been the pride of Podgorica and Montenegro. We, as the city administration, tried to we make the job as easy as possible and it seems to me that we succeeded in that and that we were not one of those who remember these people only when it is difficult and when situations like this happen, but we built that service in a partnership relationship and it is what it is today not only the best in Montenegro, but also in wider areas," said Vuković.

In the announcement, they state that the commander of the Protection and Rescue Service of the Capital City, Goran Janković, said that the service, headed by him, provided the maximum during the rescue mission in the affected area of Turkey and that he is proud of his brave colleagues.
"I expect people to understand the kind of devastation we are talking about, that in the area where we were, there are hundreds of destroyed residential buildings and that the number of victims is huge. The members of the Protection and Rescue Service showed a high degree of dedication, professionalism and the true face of our service and of the city. They can really serve us with pride, and in the coming period we will try to create the best possible conditions, provide the best possible equipment," Janković pointed out.
Firefighter Predrag Anđušić, as written in the announcement, emphasized that he felt proud that he was part of the team of the Service of the Capital City of Podgorica and that they managed to make their contribution in almost impossible conditions. He said that the Podgorica service of 19 members together with colleagues from Nikšić, in two teams, was constantly on the field.
"The scenes were very shocking. Regardless of all that, we gave our best, every day. We had understanding from the services that were there on the ground and the citizens. To the pride of all of us, we did not regret anything, we tried to save the younger guys , and we, who are more experienced, put in all our efforts and succeeded in doing so. In all this trouble, the support of the mayor and the administration of the Capital City really meant a lot to us, and we thank them for that," Andjušić concluded.
