Well-known environmentalist from Ulcinj Dzelal Hodzic believes that the delta of Bojana, Ada and the eastern part of MZ "Štoj", Špatula with the lake should be "separated" from the territory under the authority of JP for the management of marine resources and assigned to the management of the institutions of the southernmost municipality.
He stated this in an open letter to the Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, evaluating "that the sea coast of Ulcinj, under the jurisdiction of the JP from Budva, has experienced ambient, visual, geographical, biodiversity and ecological devastation in about thirty years due to ignorance, indolence, non-cooperation with competent civil institutions, such as NGOs, fishermen and other professional associations and degradation that can be measured in tens of millions of euros in damages".
"With respect for our ancestors, and above all for nature, the citizens of Ulcinj, the tourism industry, tourists and our descendants, there is a need to change the existing situation," wrote Hodžić in a letter to Abazović.
He said that the area of the Bojana delta and eastern Štoj should be managed by the Municipality, the Tourist Organization, the civil sector - eco NGOs, fishermen, owners of cabins and fishing houses, restaurant owners and all other professional and educated individuals who care about environmental protection and improvement conditions in it in the job description.
"All of them would provide one member for the formation of an operational team, which would specify further activities from the legal, economic, social and ecological aspects, while maintaining the necessary connections with the headquarters of the JP for the management of marine assets. With this act, a far better and more successful protection and conservation of the area would begin, rehabilitation and proper revitalization of that area would begin through the establishment of cooperation with professional and scientific institutions from Montenegro, the countries of ex-Yugoslavia, Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia, which are connected by waterway through the Drima basin, then the countries of Western Europe and our diaspora", Hodžić described how the management of the area exempted from the competence of JP should function.
He added that the concept of the development of Montenegro and Ulcinj, that is, the Bojana delta, economy, energy and ecology, with the involvement of experts from various professions and profiles, would thus begin to be implemented in action.
"I would like to point out that the municipality of Ulcinj was neglected, neglected and forgotten by the central government for many years, which is why it is the only underdeveloped coastal municipality. Ulcinj experienced the greatest momentum of development when it decided its own destiny, about tourism on Ada, hotels on Velika plaža, the salt pan, GRO Primorje, Ultep or Agropogon, which was the winner of the first prize in Yugoslavia for the development of agriculture and villages in 1987," he recalled. is Hodzic.
