The company "Erlang", the contractor for the ground floor arrangement of the Great Scaffold under the Old Town, recently started concreting the area where the square, i.e. the pier and the first sea border crossing in Ulcinj are planned.
The first phase of the project, which is financed by the Public Enterprise for the Management of Marine Resources, is planned for the amount of 800 thousand euros, while with the final works in the second phase, the figure will be rounded to around one million euros.
The contractor has already broken the deadlines for the realization of the project, which were scheduled for 120 days, since the works started in the first half of October last year. Although the works are not progressing according to the expected dynamics, the Municipality of Ulcinj believes that the project will be completed by the season. President of the Municipality Omer Bajraktari he said that he expects that Ulcinj will soon get a modern building called the Great Scaffold, which will be the pride of the city.
"The nicer weather is starting now, which will enable the investor to carry out and finish the works faster", said Bajraktari to "Vijesta".
The company recently confirmed to "News" that already at the very beginning of the works, significant discrepancies between the actual condition on the ground and the prepared project were noted, in the part of the concrete base of the promenade.
"The result of the detected irregularities is the extension of the deadlines, as well as the finding of a new technical solution for the concrete surface of the promenade. In the new technical solution, the excavated material from the scaffolding can be used", they stated in "Erlang" at the time what was the reason for extending the deadline.
In the Public Enterprise, before the New Year, "Vijesti" was told that the works are proceeding in accordance with the expected dynamics and that for now they are on schedule.

"The space of the square is defined by the project with an orthogonal grid of paving, large fields of about 4x4 meters that additionally emphasize the rectangular shape and size of the square. At the point of change of direction, the grid becomes smaller and enables the functional composition of fields of pavements, benches and greenery. From the plane of the square, fitting into the basic grid, rise three dynamic groupings of uneven fields, tribunes that soften the impact of the waves and represent a more interesting alternative to the classic type of seating such as chairs, benches, deckchairs," the project says.
The project for the arrangement of the Great Pier - wharf in the zone of maritime property, also provides for the installation of three standard facilities of a service nature. However, during the recent big storm, accompanied by a strong southerly wind and big waves, the area of the Great Scaffold was completely flooded, which in one part could lead to a new revision of the project.
Bajraktari then said that the investor and the contractor during the Prime Minister's visit Dritan Abazović with the ministers, on the spot, the necessity to protect that area on the south side from large waves was especially pointed out.
"Therefore, it is necessary to find a solution so that the entire work of around one million euros does not turn out to be in vain after the first major storm", said Bajraktari at the time.
