The Directorate for Forest and Hunting Management announced that, acting in accordance with a new set of measures aimed at preventing illegal activities in forestry, an inspection was carried out in PJ Kolašin of companies engaged in felling forests, processing and selling timber assortments, during which illegal timber was discovered. assortments of two subjects.
"In the period from February 15 to 19, 2023, the Head of PJ Kolašin organized an inspection in cooperation with the forestry inspector of all economic entities from the wood processing sector, which operate in the territory of the municipality of Kolašin. On that occasion, a mass of wood was found at two economic entities (beech logs and firewood) on which there were no forest marks and for which there was no certificate of origin of wood assortments. On this basis, 102 pieces of beech logs, with a total volume of about 40m³ and 22 pieces of beech firewood in lengths, with a total volume of 7,3 ,XNUMX m³ and the entire confiscated wood mass was given for safekeeping until the end of the procedure. Through control and comparative data, it was determined that the companies where illegal wood assortments were found were not users of state forests in the last five years. Also, based on the facts collected during the inspection it was established that the illegal wood most likely originates from private forests," the announcement states.
The Directorate for Management of Forests and Hunting Grounds added that PJ Kolašin filed reports immediately after discovering illegal wood assortments and forwarded them to the competent forestry inspector for further action.
"Also, in PJ Bijelo Polje on February 20, 2023, by a joint action of officers of the Directorate for Forest and Hunting Management, the Police Directorate and the Directorate for Inspection Affairs, about 3m³ of beech wood in logs, for which it was not had valid documentation, and subsequent checks determined that the wood came from the state forest. Namely, after receiving a report that illegal logging was being carried out in the state forest, the Head of PJ Bijelo Polje sent the regional forester to examine the allegations from the report and check the factual situation on the ground. On the way from the state forest in GJ "Bjelasica" to the main road, the district forester checked the truck with wood that he met, driven by DJ, which did not have valid documentation, nor was the wood properly marked. DJ's face admitted that the wood they come from the state forest, which was confirmed by the regional forester during subsequent checks in the GJ "Bjelasica", in department 106a, where four illegally cut trees were found, with a total gross wood mass of 4,12 m³. During the confiscation of illegally cut wood, the Police Directorate and the Directorate for Inspection Affairs were informed, who informed the prosecutor on duty about this case and forwarded the case for further action," said the Directorate.
From that institution, they stated that they hope that with the quick and efficient action of the prosecution, all illegal activities will be prosecuted and sanctioned in accordance with the law and that they will receive a final epilogue, and that irresponsible individuals will give up such and similar illegal actions, which we they say they will not turn a blind eye but will try to eradicate them completely.
