The new unit of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance (EMSA) in Gusinje was officially opened today, and the total value of the adaptation and equipment project is 120 euros.

The new health facility was opened by Minister of Health Dragoslav Ščekić, Director of ZHMP Vuk Niković, Ambassador of Turkey to Montenegro, Bariš Kalkavan and President of the Municipality Anela Čekić.

As reported, the institute provided money for construction works and a newly equipped ambulance, while medical and office equipment worth 25 thousand euros was donated by TIKA.

The local self-government helped with seven thousand euros.

Šćekić said that emergency medical assistance is a specific part of the health system and it is necessary that the state stands behind it in full capacity.

"That is why the task and goal of the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the management of ZHMP, is to strengthen all units on the territory of the state to the maximum and improve the conditions for work and providing assistance, so that citizens have better, better quality and, above all, faster healthcare services," Šćekić said. .

He said that the priorities of the Ministry are infrastructural modernization, personnel strengthening, better conditions for the work of medical personnel and raising the level of quality of health services for citizens and everyone who resides in Montenegro.

According to him, tens of millions of euros are currently being spent in the healthcare system.

"In addition to emergency medical aid units, the construction of two modern facilities for three clinics within the Clinical Center of Montenegro, the Operational Center for Emergency Situations at the Institute of Public Health, as well as the reconstruction and adaptation of several hospitals and health centers is underway," Šćekić said. .

Niković pointed out that today is the first time that the emergency department is opening in Gusinje.

"Our goal is to provide all citizens with an adequate emergency medical service and to raise the health system to a higher level. What is characteristic of ZHMP is that unit by unit it adapts, builds and adopts the standard of modern emergency medicine", he stated.

Kalkavan said that Turkey may be going through the most difficult period in its history in the past two weeks.

"Since they heard about the disaster that hit Turkey, the state of Montenegro and the people of Turkey immediately stood up and got to work on how to help a friendly country. We saw that the people of Montenegro were with the people of Turkey, and we have a very positive experience in bad situations," said Kalkavan.

He said that Montenegro continues to send aid to Turkey and that they received "perhaps more aid than the capacity of that country".

"Over 150 tons of aid went to Turkey, about ten large tow trucks and cargo planes," said Kalkavan.

He said that today, with the help of TIKE, the ZHMP unit is opening in Gusinje.

"When we compare these two things, we see that the hearts of the people of Turkey and Montenegro beat the same for their countries. TIKA has its role in improving the relations between these two countries and with the implementation of its activities. So far, we have implemented around 500 projects", said the Turkish ambassador.

Čekić pointed out that the work of the Emergency Service will be of great importance for that city, for the citizens, the diaspora that comes in large numbers in the summer months, but also for tourists.
