"Let's mitigate the consequences of stroke, lend a hand to PWDs (persons with disabilities)", is the name of the subgranting program that the non-governmental organization (NGO) Brain Bijelo Polje implements as part of the project "Equality to a dignified life of PWDs", in partnership with the Association of the Blind of Montenegro and the Association for supporting people with disabilities from Bijelo Polje.
The project, as stated by the NGO Brain, is implemented with the aim of improving the quality of life of people suffering from stroke, while increasing their socialization and integration through the establishment and provision of alternative and alternative support services in accordance with their needs.
As noted by the coordinator of the NGO Brain Ranko Mešter, the project is implemented with the aim of providing and developing non-institutional alternative support services for home help for people suffering from stroke and providing a continuous support service.
"With the project, we intend to improve the capacities of NGO Brain in promoting and developing non-institutional, alternative support services for stroke patients, but also to raise the awareness of key participants and the public about the benefits of inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized groups," Mešter said at the presentation of the project in Bijelo Polje.
Coordinator of the subgranting program, Dragana Božović, said that the project "Equality to a dignified life of PWDs in Montenegro" was financially supported by the European Union, with co-financing from the Ministry of Public Administration, within which four local organizations were supported.
"That's why the projects of these four organizations of people with disabilities will contribute to the independent life of people with disabilities - users of the provided support services. The challenge for all organizations of people with disabilities and for people with disabilities themselves is that these and similar support services for life in the community are not are continuously financed by the state, but support services are provided through projects with time and financial limitations. And I think that in addition to providing support services, raising the awareness of key actors and the public about the benefits of inclusion of vulnerable groups is no less important," Božović pointed out.
