The Yugoslav Communist Party of Montenegro, on Saturday in Baram Žugić in the municipality of Žabljak, marked 77 years since the Provincial Conference of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia for Montenegro, Boka, Sandžak and Kosovo and Metohija and 80 years since the arrival of Josip Broz Tito at the head of the Communist Party Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ).
In front of more than 100 admirers of that time and ideas from all over Montenegro, in front of the memorial house where the conference was held, the gathering began with the singing of the anthem "Hey Slavs", after which the vice-president of the central committee of that party, Mirko Vuković, said, among other things, that the big states of the anti-Hitler coalition "were proud with this kind of memorial house and jubilees".
"We need to gather because a people who forgets the past also forgets the future. The conference held in this place and in this house was the largest gathering of Montenegrin communists until then," Vuković said.
History professor Manojlo Žugić spoke about the historical facts of those events, the way it was organized, and at the same time quoted numerous analysts and contemporaries who dealt with this conference. He pointed out the contribution of the Durmitor communists from the house, which is now a memorial home, for the conference to take place in the best order.
The president of the central committee of the Yugoslav Communist Party of Montenegro, Vladislav Vuković, said that the conference laid the foundation for the future work of the KPJ and emphasized that decisions were made at it on the anti-fascist struggle at the same time as the struggle against capitalism, stressing that this memorial house, as a museum of a time and an important date had to be an integral part of the tourist offer of this region and Montenegro.
Pupils of Elementary School "Dušan Obradović" from Žabljak prepared an appropriate recital program, and the tour of the museum and its exhibits attracted the attention of those present.
