The owner of a luxury sports Mercedes C-class from Germany had an accident while boarding the "Vasilije" ferry in Kamenari, in which his car suffered considerable damage.
When boarding the ferry in Kamenari, a lowered sports Mercedes with German plates caught the boarding ramp with the front spoiler and the lower part of the bumper and broke these plastic body parts.
The car got stuck on the ramp, so the workers from the ferry physically lifted the front end of the Mercedes with their hands in order to get the car out of the awkward situation.
By the way, this is not the first case where, when boarding the "Vasilija", cars hit the lower part of the boarding ramp or the pier surface itself due to the inappropriate height of the ferry deck and the bad angle at which the ramp stands in relation to the access plane for cars on the shore .
Neither the owner of the damaged luxury Mercedes from Germany, nor any other of the car drivers who were damaged on the "Vasili" in the past days, since that ferry, as the only vessel of its kind, has been transporting cars and passengers on the Kamenari-Lepetane line since February 18, however, they cannot count on anyone to compensate them for the damage they have suffered.
Namely, the company "Morsko dobro" which "Vasilija" got a free lease from its owner, the construction company "Briv Construction" from Kotor, as well as the ferry itself, are not covered by the mandatory insurance policy for the provider of maritime transport of goods and passengers.
In addition, this state-owned company has not yet been adequately registered for carrying out ferry activities, so this was the primary reason why from February 18, when Morsko dobro took over the maintenance of the ferry line in Boka from the company Pomorski sabražen from Kamenar, that service in general does not charge.
Namely, in order for the operator to charge for the ferry service, he must be properly registered for carrying out the economic activity of transporting passengers and goods in maritime traffic, for which Morsko dobro is not registered, and the sold train ticket itself is also proof to the user of the service that he is covered by the operator's mandatory insurance and that any damage he suffers on the ferry will be compensated.
In practice, this means that everyone who currently uses this type of improvised ferry service in Boka does so at their own risk and possible damage.
Despite this, the competent public inspections "pretend to be dead" and allow everything to take place in such an improvised way because the government has unofficially declared the takeover of the ferry line by the state to be of "higher interest".
On February 9, the government obliged the Public Company for the Management of Marine Assets (JPMD) to take over the maintenance of the Kamenari-Lepetane line within 45 days. Morsko dobro officially started doing this already on February 18, when it took over the management of the only ferry line in the country from the previous operator, the private company Pomorski sabrojc from Kamenar.
For the maintenance of the line, which brought them millions of revenues, the owners of Maritime Transport paid Morska Dobr a fee in the amount of four percent of the revenue from the sold train tickets, which amounted to between 2004 and 200 thousand euros per year, according to the contract from 300. The contract expired at the end of 2018, and in August of the following year, the Government of Prime Minister Duško Marković (DPS) extended it until further, i.e. until the selection of the concessionaire who will be entrusted with the long-term operation of the ferry, by an annex to the contract from 2004.
