The medicine "caftrio" and "kalydeco" (trikafta), which is used in the treatment of cystic fibrosis, arrived today in the warehouse of the pharmacy institution "Montefarm", and from Monday it will be available to patients in pharmacies in Podgorica and in the north, while the medicine will be given to patients distributed on the coast on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health (MZD) announced today.
"The therapy was approved for 21 patients who passed all the necessary control examinations before introducing the drug into therapy. We remind you that at the end of last year, the Ministry of Health allowed all adult patients suffering from this disease to be referred to the Center for Cystic Fibrosis, Clinic for Lung Diseases , of the Clinical Center of Serbia, while the pediatric patients were referred to the Institute for Mother and Child in Belgrade for check-ups and assessment of the disease state. After all the necessary findings and opinions of the relevant specialist doctors and the council were submitted, the conditions were created for the introduction of the drug into therapy." , the press release of the MZD points out.
From that government department, they added that the Commission formed by the Ministry of Health, which approved the use of the drug "Trikafta", will also be in charge of monitoring the effects of the therapy and continuing the treatment of patients in the coming period.
