In Podgorica, Vrele Ribnički, the keys to apartments for 96 families, which were built as part of the Regional Housing Program (RSP), will be given today.
RSP is a multi-year joint initiative of the partner countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia) supported by the international community and which aims to close the chapter of long-term displacement in the region.
"It was developed in partnership between partner countries and the OSCE, UNHCR and the European Commission," the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare said in a statement.
The goal of RSP is to contribute to solving the prolonged crisis of displacement of the most vulnerable refugees and displaced persons from the territory of the former Yugoslavia after the conflicts that lasted from 1991 to 1995, including internally displaced persons in Montenegro since 1999.
"Construction of 96 apartments at Vreli Ribnički in Podgrica began in 2020, and the realization of this project will close the first collective center, i.e. the settlement that was built after the outbreak of conflict in the territory of the former Yugoslavia," the announcement says.
On the occasion of the realization of the project, a ceremonial handing over of the keys is planned for 96 families who have permanently solved their housing issue.
Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Admir Adrović, head of the EU office in Montenegro Oana Kristina Popa, representatives of the Development Bank of the Council of Europe, heads of UNHCR and OSCE offices and the mayor of the capital Ivan Vuković will speak at the ceremony.
