LGBT Forum Progres announced that in three months, from 23 December last In 24, XNUMX reports were submitted to the Police Directorate for hate speech directed against LGBTI persons.
Hate speech was, as they say, observed in public comments on the Facebook social network by the Team for Monitoring Hate Speech in the Online Space, which has been operating within that organization for a decade.
It is important to emphasize, they point out, that monitoring and continuous reporting of hate speech against LGBTI persons is of vital importance in the fight against discrimination and the creation of a safer environment for LGBTI persons in Montenegro.
"Activities of this type are especially important because hate speech is often the first step that leads to threats to physical safety and violence against LGBTI people," the announcement states.
LGBT Forum Progres said that in the coming period, through monitoring the internet space, they will continue with efforts to suppress hate speech towards LGBTI people in Montenegro, and implement a series of activities that will improve the capacities of relevant institutions to adequately respond to this problem, which, they note, is still very pronounced.
