The Ministry of Education does not know whether there are diplomas in Montenegro from institutions from Bosnia and Herzegovina, which the prosecutor's office there is investigating for issuing false educational documents.
This follows from the department's response Miomir Vojinović to "News" questions.
"The Ministry of Education of Montenegro, according to the Law on Free Access to Information, is not obliged to create new information that it does not have in its possession. The Ministry does not keep records of diplomas for individual institutions of higher education from abroad," the Ministry of Education replied.
As reported by the Bosnian media, the investigation is being conducted against the Independent University of Banjaluk (NUBL), the University of Business Studies (UPS) of Banjaluk, the European University in Brcko, the University of Travnik, the International University of Travnik, as well as the College of Applied and Legal Sciences Prometheus from Banja Luka.
The BIH Prosecutor's Office, in cooperation with the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), launched the operation "Cluster", in which more than 10 people from several private institutions of higher education were arrested in February, suspected of criminal offenses of illegal issuance and sale of university diplomas. .
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH previously announced that as part of the action, several workers and high-ranking officials of university and college institutions in BiH were detained and money stemming from illegal activities was confiscated.
"According to the collected evidence, it is suspected that the suspects illegally acquired more than 600.000 KM (300.000 euros) through illegal activities," stated the BiH Prosecutor's Office.
The Ministry of Education previously said that 6.350 requests for recognition of foreign educational documents, both from high school and higher education institutions, were submitted last year, of which 1.622 were from the region.
In the past five years, that government department has repeatedly announced that criminal charges have been filed against several people for falsifying diplomas, but the results are still unknown.
