Although a lung diffusion machine was donated and put into operation at the Clinical Center six months ago, the largest health institution now says that this type of diagnostics could only be performed at the end of this year, when they expect staff training to be completed.
However, at the end of October 2022, KC announced that part of the employees had been educated and that the device could be put into operation.
One of the patients told "Vijesta" that he received a referral to the Brezovik Special Hospital, although he hoped that now, when the machine is available at the Clinical Center (KC), he would be able to perform pulmonary diffusion in his town.
"As a patient with two autoimmune diseases, I was instructed a few months ago to do lung diffusion. However, even though an apparatus was acquired in KC, I get a referral to Brezovik, with the explanation that they do not have trained personnel. I wonder, as a citizen, if it is possible that we do not have health workers who would be willing to undergo training to work on that device. What does the mentioned problem require? First, I have to be absent from work, then the Health Insurance Fund has to pay the travel expenses, not to mention the health condition of the traveling patients", said the patient.
KC replied to "News" that patients are referred to the Brezovik Special Hospital for pulmonary diffusion because it is the only health institution of a specialized type for pulmonary diseases.
"And the only one that has, not only a device for diffusion and platysmography, but also a staff trained a decade ago", it was announced.
They explained that KC acquired a device for this type of diagnostics from a donation from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Montenegro and the Chinese people, with a total value of around 55.000 euros.
"According to the annual plan, we expect educated staff to work on this device at the end of the current year, and therefore this diagnosis could then be carried out in KC as well", they replied from that institution.
At the end of October 2022, it was announced from KC that for the first time bodyplethysmography and diffusion were carried out in that institution, and that thanks to the acquisition of a bodyplethysmograph device, that institution completed modern diagnostics of lung diseases, especially chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases.
Head of the Pulmonology Department of the KC Internal Clinic Vladimir Jovanovic he then thanked the Embassy of China for the valuable donation, which enabled that institution to complete modern diagnostics of obstructive lung diseases.
"It gives me great pleasure to be able to present to the Montenegrin public that we have introduced another new procedure in KC and for the first time received a representative device that is used in the functional diagnosis of lung diseases, primarily chronic lung diseases. These diseases are the third most common disease on the morbidity scale, right after cardiovascular and oncological diseases. I use the opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the Embassy and the people of the People's Republic of China who donated funds for the purchase of this device, which will facilitate our work, not only with covid and post-covid patients, but also with all obstructive conditions as well as pre-operative preparations of patients", said Jovanović.
He said that they put into operation the body plethysmography and gas diffusion apparatus.
"That's how we completed our cabinet for functional diagnostics. As for the equipment, we have everything we need to diagnose very serious lung diseases", said Jovanović.
He said that they had a so-called "small spirometer", stating that this is now a "large spirometer" and a diffusion device that will be used by covid and post-covid patients.
As he said, the device will also be used by patients who are preparing for cardiac surgery, as well as for operations in the field of thoracic surgery...
"All patients will be treated in the Center for Functional Diagnostics, and in cooperation with cardiac surgeons and thoracic surgeons, a final judgment will be made on the possibility of performing difficult surgical procedures. Thanks to the head of the Center for Functional Diagnostics of the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases of the Military Medical Academy from Belgrade, Dobrivoj Novković, immediately after the installation in the Pulmonology Clinic, employees were trained to work on that device," said Jovanović.
With that act, as he said, the conditions were met to put the device into use immediately.
