The Ministry of Justice announced that the reconstruction/adaptation activities of six court buildings in Podgorica, Nikšić, Kotor, Berane and Bijelo Polje have begun.

The department expressed satisfaction with the launch of the project "Improving the efficiency of the judiciary", and as they stated, a certain amount of work will be included in order to adapt facilities for the access and movement of persons with reduced mobility and persons with disabilities.

The planned works on the buildings, they say, will also result in better quality solutions from the point of view of energy efficiency of the buildings.

The Ministry believes that the implementation of the Project will significantly contribute to the strengthening of accessibility, transparency and public trust in the judiciary, "which represents one of the key and strategic goals of the comprehensive reform of the judiciary in Montenegro".

The project is implemented with the support of the European Union through the IPA 2018 project "EU for improving access to justice and fundamental rights - Works aimed at improving the infrastructure in the justice sector and the execution of criminal sanctions".

"With this project, the Ministry of Justice continuously continues to implement activities aimed at improving the system of infrastructure and security of judicial facilities and physical access to judicial institutions, thereby strengthening the operational capacities of key institutions in the field of the Rule of Law and fulfilling the criteria contained in Chapter 23 of the negotiations in the long term and in a sustainable manner on the full membership of Montenegro in the European Union", reads the statement of the Ministry of Justice.
