Members of the Speleological Club "Pauk" from Bijelo Polje claim that the statements of the Environmental Protection Agency that Đalovića Gorge is a speleological Eldorado are another attempt to cover up and minimize the disaster that befell Đalovića Gorge and the citizens of the local community of Bistrica.
They reacted after the text “Speleological Eldorado one step away from full protection", published in "Vijesti" on the subject of the Audit Study of the protected area "Đalovića Klisura", which was processed by the Agency.
They claim that this is yet another abolition of those responsible for the disaster in that location, which is reflected in the fact that "one interest group is driven by base motives, greed and greed" in order to "grab as much money as possible from the capital project of the valorization of Đalovića Cave". did not respect the project "which they changed twice and adapted it to the mistakes they caused, not conducting research aimed at protecting biodiversity (the only research was conducted in 1961), not obtaining consent and permits from the republican authorities for carrying out work on a nationally protected location good”.
That everything is wrong with us, speleologists say, is also shown by the initiative of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje to the Agency, because it should have appeared much earlier, in 2017, when the valorization of Đalovića Cave was planned, and not now when the damages that perhaps irreparable.
"That's why there is no zero state before the start of the project and the start of the works, which was an obligation, and all for the purpose of making it as difficult as possible to detect failures and malfeasance, and that all this was done with the intention of extracting as much profit as possible from those investments, without caring about the project itself. The speleology club "Pauk" needs to say that it was our initiative right after the event of vandalism in the cave itself (when vandals wrote graffiti in the cave), when we asked for an urgent meeting with the President of the Municipality Peter Smolović, who said before that it was all new to him and he knew nothing about it), to point out that, in addition to the vandalism that was done, the catastrophic consequences of the dug tunnel, not knowing that it was done illegally at the time, and four percent of the population died protected bats and other troglyphs, troglobiotes and trogloxenes on the biodiversity of the cave itself", claim SK "Pauk".
They stated that then Smolović referred them to the secretary of the Secretariat for Rural and Sustainable Development Jasmin Ćorović, with whom they had two meetings. They explain that Ćorović was surprised that the situation was as they presented him, but that he was cooperative.
"We pointed out and gave guidelines on what and how to act in order to repair the damage as soon as possible so that the project itself, which is of great importance for the development of our municipality, would not be called into question. At those meetings, we agreed on a lot of other things, the exchange of information, insight into the project for the sake of faster action on rehabilitation and spreading the damage, and among other things, this initiative, but when we needed to hold a third meeting regarding the verdict, Ćorović directed us to the PR department of the Municipality. reminding them that a decision was made that no one goes out in public until the PR and the president approve", said the speleologists.
SK "Pauk" notes that the PR of the Municipality told them that he is not currently in BIjelo Polje, and that he is currently not aware of that problem.
"It was immediately clear to us that a Chinese wall is forming around us again and all communications are being interrupted for reasons unknown to us, all for the purpose of limiting and covering up information," speleologists say.
Speleologists believe that they are not surprised by the animosity and motives of Smolović, because he is trying to protect himself and his company, which is a subcontractor of the company "Novi Volvoks", which was involved in the capital projects of the Đalovića cave, with the influence he has while performing the function of mayor, with a total value over 23 million euros.
They remind that the project is implemented according to the "design-build" system, which is the easiest way to avoid construction regulations, increasing unpredictability included in the project, not respecting deadlines and pumping out money.
As they announced, they will continue to point out the extent of the catastrophe and demand that the Đalovića Cave construction site be adequately protected, because it is left to the mercy of nature, while the biodiversity of the cave itself continues to collapse. They remind that the crypto climate has changed by 4 to 6 degrees, which from a scientific point of view is a disaster in itself, and at the same time nothing is being done to fix the problems.
They point out that the contractor behaved irresponsibly and unprofessionally towards the Đalovića Gorge, which is why they suggest that the Special Prosecutor's Office be involved in the case, because it is about incalculable damage caused to a capital project, where more than 20 million euros were spent, "and most likely also organized crime". .
Speleologists also announce criminal charges.
