The President of the Democratic People's Party, Milan Knežević, congratulated Serbian Patriarch Porfiri, Metropolitan Joaniki of Montenegro and Littoral, Bishop Metodi of Budamljana-Niššić, Bishop Dimitrije of Zahum and Herzegovina, Bishop Atanasi of Milesevo and the faithful of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Knežević pointed out that Easter "should remind all of us of transience and the necessity to strive for charity in life in order to justify our short existence on earth".
"Just as there is no resurrection without death, so there is no state without spiritual foundations and national memory. In a time that increasingly resembles John's book of Revelation, we are obliged to pray for peace in the world, especially peace between the Orthodox brothers of Russians and Ukrainians, but and for the Orthodox sanctuaries, which are threatened every day by those who have forgotten God and prayer. Mentioning the monasteries and churches in Ukraine, we are obliged to mention our sanctuaries in Kosovo and Metohija, and to say that our holy and crucified land of Kosovo Metohija must be defended and keep in Montenegro.
"Our clergy and believers, as well as statesmen, whom we supported, all of us together have an obligation to Pećaršija, Visoki Dečani, Gračanica, Bogorodica Ljeviška, as does Serbia, but also our bishoprics and believers throughout the universe. Just like that this Easter days, conciliar and without sinful thoughts, we can expect the resurrection of Kosovo and Metohija, just as the Son of God was resurrected, testifying to the imperishable light and symbolism of his name. Christ Rises, Truly Rises", concluded Knežević.
