Last night, an unknown perpetrator or perpetrators damaged the balustrade on the monumental staircase of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Prčanje.

Two capitals on the stair pillars near the statue of Jesus below the church were knocked off, most likely with crowbars and thrown under the stairs.

In addition to the decorative function, the detached capitals also have a constructive role, because they hold the massive stone cantilever beams on this part of the staircase, which points to the conclusion that the devastators had the intention of causing greater damage to the representative staircase that is part of the crumbling church - a protected cultural monument of the first category .

The parish priest of Prčanj, Don Željko Pasković, did not hide his indignation at the action of the as yet unknown perpetrators who attacked one of the most representative objects of Boke's cultural and historical heritage in this way.

The locals of Prčanja who gathered on the spot are also outraged by this vandalism.

On their own initiative, they returned the two fallen capitals to the staircase so that later, with adequate technical measures, experts could restore and fix them in their rightful place.

The Security Department and Municipal Police of the Kotor Municipality were informed about everything, and they carried out an investigation on the spot.
