Montenegro, although a territorially small country, leads the way in terms of solidarity with refugees from Ukraine compared to the countries of the region, said Ukrainian ambassador to Montenegro Oleg Gerasimenko.
At a meeting with the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Admir Adrović, he said that since the beginning of the armed conflict in Ukraine, the Government of Montenegro has continuously continued to provide help and support to Ukrainian refugees, a certain number of whom have found refuge in Montenegro.
"Expressing gratitude for that, he pointed out that Montenegro, although a territorially small country, leads the way in terms of solidarity with refugees from Ukraine compared to the countries of the region," the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare said in a statement.
According to reports, Gerasimenko praised the actions of the centers for social work in the domain of their competence, which concerns the provision of adequate support and services to refugees from Ukraine.
Adrović stressed that he regrets the events in Ukraine, adding that the Government of Montenegro condemned Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
He pointed out that refugees from Ukraine will be able to continue using all their rights as in the past period, and that they will be provided with support in employment, social protection will be provided, especially for children without parental care.
