Inspection supervision established that the local meat processors discharge wastewater into Lim without proper consent, so it is obvious that the veterinary inspector from Bijelo Polje tried to cover up the illegal discharge of wastewater and animal waste into Lim by the company "Mesopromet - Franca" and "Eco-meat", when he told the media that they work in accordance with all regulations, said the NGO Euromost.
They called the Directorate for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs to investigate the work of its inspector in Bijelo Polje, if he tried to cover up the discharge of animal waste, as well as animal blood in Lim.
As they specifically pointed out, the question arises - how does this veterinary inspector of the aforementioned company control the import of meat products.
They also remind that the representative of the company "Mesopromet - Franca", within which the company "Eko-Meso" operates, gave a statement to the water inspector Dragan Šekularac, in which it was said that the Veterinary Administration allowed them to, subsequently after releasing a huge amount of blood, install large pipes to the riverbed of Lima, and therefore ask the Administration for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs to answer how it is possible to approve the installation of pipes to the riverbed of Lima, when the water inspector issued a decision ordering this company to obtain water conditions and water consent, which includes the removal of the discharge pipes. They also ask whether the Department for Water Inspection may also be under the jurisdiction of the Administration.
"We ask the Directorate for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs - who do they work for? Do they work in accordance with laws and regulations, or for someone else's interest? Why has no one from this Directorate publicly announced themselves so far, as if nobody cares about lives and the health of the citizens of Bijelo Polje and our children, who bathed in Lima during the summer days, while huge amounts of animal blood and various chemicals were released next to their inspector?" it is stated in the statement of Euromost.
They called on the authorities to answer - how is it that for years blood and animal waste have been discharged into Lim without the presence of a veterinary inspector, who is obliged to attend any discharge of meat processors into Lim, pointing out that the veterinary inspector allegedly has no knowledge that certain meat processors burned bones in the circle of those companies in the late hours.
As they said, Euromost filed reports to the Inspection for the Protection of Space and the Construction Inspection against the company "Mesopromet - Franca" for the devastation of the coast of Lim, as well as for carrying out construction works on state land without any permit.
"We also informed the EU delegation again about the new cases, which replied that they had informed all the relevant authorities about the whole case and that this issue had attracted the attention of the EU Delegation in Montenegro. They also said that the European Union attaches great importance to veterinary standards and environmental protection in Montenegro and to be sure that they will continue to monitor the activities of the competent state authorities in Montenegro, as well as the development in this area. We have nothing against any meat processor and we are always ready to point out the importance of their business, but we will not allow them to do this to the detriment of the environment, Lima, which is of national importance, and the health of our fellow citizens," Euromost concluded.
