The municipality gave half a year for changes to the elaboration for the snowmaking of the Kolašin ski center: The project is bulky, it must be corrected

The commission of the competent Kolašin Secretariat gave the editor of the Elaboration on Environmental Impact Assessment for the water supply system project for water supply and snowmaking of the ski slopes of the mountain centers Kolašin 1600 and Kolašin 1450 half a year to make changes in that document.

The project holders for water supply and snowmaking in Bjelasica are the Directorate for Capital Investments and the Municipality of Kolašin, and the public discussion on the Elaborate last week was attended by a large number of comments from environmental activists, locals, property owners...

The processor "Aqua engineering" from Podgorica should, within the next six months, act on some of the remarks that were made during the public hearing.

Among what was proposed during the public discussion, the competence of state and local administrative bodies should be determined when implementing the procedures of that project.

"Participants in the public discussion do not dispute the project in the field of drinking water supply, because drinking water has priority over other ways of using water, in accordance with regulations, but not technical water. Drinking water must be captured at the water source itself and as such drained by a special infrastructure , and not to be confused with technical water. The assessment is that the project is oversized in terms of the amount of water and infrastructure needed for snowmaking, financially unsustainable and energy inefficient", are some of the remarks from the public hearing, published in the minutes.

As written in the conclusions, the Elaborate lacks clear information on who will manage the water supply and snowmaking system of the mountain centers, as well as whether there will be an increase in the prices of communal water supply services for the citizens of Kolašin.

During the public debate, the continued functioning of the MHE Mušovića Rijeka, which uses water from the Ljevaja River, from which it is planned to take water for water supply and snowmaking for facilities on Bjelasica, was also questioned.

For the water supply of buildings on Bjelasica and the snowmaking of ski slopes, it is planned to draw 400 liters per second from the source of the river Ljevaja. The largest part of the water, 260 liters, would be used for making snow on the trails at the private and state ski center, 30 l/s is intended for the water supply of facilities at two mountain centers, i.e. hotels and villas, while 110 l/s is intended for the later water supply of the city .
