Psychologist Petar Markovic he expects that the competent authorities will prosecute the persons who threatened him with lynching and threatened his safety and thus restore faith in the institutions of the system, as well as a sense of security among the citizens.
In his statement to "Vijesta", he pointed out that there must be no tolerance for hatred and that he is concerned that the people who exposed him to public lynching in the previous days were mostly adults, in more mature years.
"Sad because of the tragic events in the environment and difficult days for the entire region, I additionally regret that we do not learn lessons from everything and that we are not in solidarity, but a part of society continues to nurture wrong models of behavior and further endangers people's mental health. It is unfortunate that someone in In the 21st century, it deals with highlighting someone's visual identity, instead of, if we have to deal with a person, then at least get to know him and only then talk about the measurable results of his work, human and moral qualities," he announced.
For days, psychologist Marković has been exposed to public condemnations and derogatory comments about his visual identity, professional attitudes and personal characteristics. Action for human rights HRA yesterday strongly condemned the threats of physical violence against Marković and told the authorities to hunt down and prosecute the perpetrators.
"In the last few days, Marković spoke enlightenedly about the need for a fundamental reform of upbringing and education to influence the encouragement of empathy and the reduction of aggressive communication that escalates into the most terrible forms of violence," the HRA pointed out.
Marković said yesterday that he regrets that in our environment there are individuals who intend and wish someone a bullet, a hole, acid and burning because that someone does not look as their personal standards dictate, and all they know about him is only his visual identity.
"It is unfortunate that it is mainly adults who deal with it. It is especially interesting that, guided by the events that are shaking the region, we have an appeal from many to talk to children, to hear, see and listen to them and, of course, to provide them with a good example, and in addition love above all. Love does not work without acceptance. Those adults serve as an example to children and have the right to an opinion about someone or something, but it is not acceptable for them to use the media space for hate speech, threats and humiliation of any member of our society. The most terrible of all is that violence is normalized, under the pretext that it is freedom of speech," said Marković.
He pointed out that malignant aggression, placed in a virtual context, is most often hidden behind these actions.
Marković emphasized that he reported the case to the police and that he believes it is important to report every form of violence, explaining that not everyone has the same capacity to deal with it.
"Violence should not be tolerated. I want to show people with this action that they should fight for their own authenticity, love in any form and not tolerate violence. In addition to everything that me and my family are going through these days, everyone's support means a lot to me known and unknown people who refer it to me," concluded Marković.
