Several tens of meters of sidewalk on one side of Mirka Vešovića Street in the narrowest center of Kolašin no longer exist.
It turned out that part of the surface, which was intended for pedestrians for years, as well as several planted trees, are part of the urban plot where there will be a four-star hotel, which is being built by the Podgorica company "Magnum Development".
During the preparation of the ground for the construction of the hotel, the blocks used to pave the sidewalk were removed, and the construction fence was placed right next to the roadway.
In that street, the situation for pedestrians is facilitated by a wide footpath on the other side towards the Memorial House.
And in the case of construction in the continuation of Milutin Lakićević Street last summer, it turned out that the sidewalk belongs to the urban planning plot where the hotel is being built, so the part intended for pedestrians ended up with the investor, and the fence was placed along the carriageway.
According to what the Communal Police told "Vijesti", the investor who is building across the street from the Memorial House, that is, the Municipality, did not violate the regulations, but only fenced off his plot. More precisely, the sidewalk was built on a private lot many years ago, and that's why it was removed.
"For the purposes of building a hotel across the street from the Municipality, a construction fence (mesh) was placed within the boundaries of the investor's plot, based on the surveyor's measurements. They removed the blocks from part of the sidewalk and placed them on their sides so as not to damage them. The trees, which are within the construction fence , also belongs to the plot, which means that it is theirs. We acted in the case of cubes from the sidewalk, all that is left is for them to be transferred to the city garage in cooperation with the Municipal Corporation," the Municipal Police told "Vijesta".

In order to free up the plot on which the hotel is being built, several old family houses were demolished in Mirko Vešovića Street last October, among them the so-called "čardak", a house almost 100 years old. Although these buildings did not officially have cultural and historical value, but, according to some residents of Kolašin, they "had a soul" and contributed to the architectural recognition of the city core.
A few days ago, the municipal police intervened at another one of the numerous construction sites in Kolašin. The company "Kips", which is building a hotel in Lug, is prohibited from using the bridge over the Pažanjski Potok and part of the road leading to the Sports Hall and the basketball courts.
"That company was prohibited from transporting materials for the purpose of building the facility, considering that they intended to cross that bridge with loaded trucks, of large tonnage, but use the road in that part of the city. We concluded that this could lead to damage to the new asphalt curtain , installed last year. Using the bridge is problematic for this purpose because there is no expert opinion on its load-bearing capacity," explains the head of the Communal Police. Ana Đoković Šćepanović.
She explains that it will be necessary for "Kips" to "receive approval for extraordinary transport, which will be preceded by the necessary opinions". Until then, he claims, the ban will be in effect.
Previously, the company improvised a macadam road across the lots near the construction site, and a construction machine also arrived at the construction site. On the plot where the hotel is being built, about forty conifers and deciduous trees were recently cut down, which "Vijesti" wrote about.
