The "Milovan Đilas" Academy was formed with the aim of strengthening awareness of the necessity of respecting human rights in Montenegro, above all the right to freedom of speech, i.e. with the aim of strengthening the awareness of the citizens of Montenegro about the necessity of free speech and critical reasoning, with tolerance of diversity and with the affirmation of local authors and/or their work.
On this occasion, a press conference will be organized on Monday at the Book Cafe in Podgorica.
About the Academy and the first meeting of the Academy will be spoken by prof. dr. Vladimir Vojinović, president of the non-governmental association Society of Montenegrin Publishers and project coordinator, Petar Đukanović, program director at the Center for Civic Education (CGO) and prof. Jelka Malović, spokeswoman for the Academy.
The first gathering of the "Milovan Đilas" Academy, organized by the NVU DCI, will be held at the "Sato" Hotel in Sutomore on May 18 and 19.
Authors, representatives of academic institutions, media, non-governmental organizations, and civic activists, decision-makers and foreign diplomats, as well as other parties interested in a free and open exchange of arguments about all social- political topics," the announcement states.
It is stated that the fulfillment of the specific goal of the project would significantly contribute to the increased culture of dialogue and tolerance in Montenegro, through strengthening the role of CSOs in reducing socio-political tensions, but also promoting EU values in terms of Montenegro's future accession.
Fulfilling those goals, it is emphasized, would increase the overall democratization of Montenegrin society, and reduce social tensions and polarization, which would increase Montenegro's real chances of becoming the next full member of the EU.
The gathering is part of the "Milovan Đilas" Academy project, which is supported through the program "CSOs in Montenegro - from basic services to policy formulation - M'BASE" implemented by the Center for Civic Education (CGO), Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES ), Center for the Protection and Study of Birds of Montenegro (CZIP) and Politikon network.
The project is financed by the European Union and co-financed by the Ministry of Public Administration.
The collaborator of NVU DCI on the "Milovan Đilas" Academy project is the Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Literature.
