The inflow of water into Lake Piva has increased due to heavy and extraordinary rainfall as well as the melting of snow that was accumulated in the mountain peaks during the winter period, "News" from the Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) announced today.
"Vijesti" came into possession of a video that shows the release of a large amount of water from the reservoir of Lake Piva.
The EPCG said that the hydrology at the Piva hydroelectric power plant is very favorable.
"Heavy rainfall significantly improved the hydrological situation, so that the reservoir lake is at its maximum elevation and the overflow valves are occasionally opened. The inflow into the lake is below 200 cubic meters per second. We believe that the inflow has increased due to heavy and extraordinary rainfall (in just 10 days in the month of May fell 50 percent than the average for this time of the year) as well as the melting of snow that was accumulated in the mountain peaks during the winter period," EPCG said.
They stated that the current elevation of Lake Piva is 675,25 meters above sea level, which, they added, is above the maximum level of the upper water.
"The spillways on the dam are occasionally opened. All available aggregates are working at full power," EPCG said.
