The Minister of Capital Investments, Ervin Ibrahimović, and the Ambassador of Switzerland, Urs Schmid, signed the Agreement on International Road Transport of Passengers and Cargo between the Montenegrin Government and the Swiss Federal Council today in Podgorica.
Ibrahimović said that the signing of that agreement is very significant for Montenegrin carriers, bearing in mind that Montenegro and Switzerland did not in the previous period regulate relations in the transport of passengers and cargo on a bilateral level in the field of road transport.
"Since the restoration of independence, Montenegro has wanted to arrange the transportation of passengers and cargo on a bilateral level, both with the countries of the region and with European countries, in accordance with its policy in this area," the announcement states.
Also, Ibrahimović said that the Ministry of Capital Investments leads a policy of liberalizing freight transport with all partner countries that have a similar policy in international road transport.
Schmid said that he was particularly pleased by the fact that the complete liberalization of freight transport was agreed with Montenegro, which means that permits are not required for freight transport between the two countries, which speeds up administrative procedures and reduces costs.
After the signing of the Agreement, both parties expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation between the two relevant ministries, with the hope that it can be further improved.
Ibrahimović also said that the agreement signed today is a step towards deepening international cooperation and bringing Montenegro closer to the European system of values and ways.
