The Center for Civic Education (CEO) announced today that it "strongly condemns last night's nationalist outburst of hatred by fans of FK Sutjeska, which rightly horrified many citizens of Montenegro, because it is already clear that this is not another isolated incident incident, but a serious social problem that the authorities irresponsibly ignore".
Fans of the Sutjeska "Vojvode" football club shouted "Knife, wire, Podgorica" near the stadium under Gorica last night.
"CGO intensively warns about this problem, which is why we ourselves have often been the targets of insults and hate speech by those who feel protected by the ruling structures that have significantly contributed to impunity for this kind of behavior by minimizing their content and effects," the CGO press release points out.
From that non-governmental organization (NGO), they added that they are calling on the highest state officials, as well as all the holders of electoral lists, to unequivocally determine themselves according to last night's event, so that the public knows, at least on a rhetorical level, who are those who stand for the civic concept and who for revisionism and glorification of war crimes.
"Also, the CGE calls on the Police Directorate to, in accordance with Article 19 of the Law on Public Order and Peace, identify all the perpetrators of this offense and prosecute them, even if it is a misdemeanor, and the Prosecutor's Office to proactively determine whether there are elements of a criminal offense that can be prosecuted ex officio", it concludes. in the announcement of the CGO.
