Athletes are, without a doubt, the best ambassadors of Montenegro, who improved and built its exceptional image in the world better than all politicians and decisions, said the Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism Ana Novaković Đurović.
She said at the event In a healthy body - a healthy spirit that it is a special pleasure for her to be in the company of top sportsmen and women who have made Montenegro happy so many times and made it proud.
"That's why I would like and believe that they will be your role models growing up and that playing sports, recreationally or professionally, will be your choice," said Novaković Đurović.
She, together with State Secretary Neda Ojdanić and General Director for Sports in the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Zoran Jojić, spoke to elementary school students from Podgorica about the importance of environmental protection.
Handball player Milena Raičević, volleyball player Nikoleta Perović, handball player Vuk Latković, water polo player Stefan Vidović and boxer Viktor Mihailović also spoke with the students.
The event was organized by the General Secretariat of the Government, with the support of the Ministry of Education, as part of the celebration of Europe Month.
The students of "Sutjeska", "Savo Pejanović" and "Milorad Musa Burzan" elementary schools took part in the event.
Novaković Đurović said that playing sports helps to build Montenegrin society according to European values and to bring it closer to the European family.
"I believe that athletes will help us promote the right role models as much as possible and suppress negative phenomena in society, such as violence, and together build a more tolerant society that will be part of the EU in the coming years," said Minister Novaković Đurović.
State Secretary in the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Neda Ojdanić, said that sport is a platform for growth, an opportunity for learning and socializing, and an important life school.
She pointed out that sport instills in young people life skills such as determination, perseverance and teaches them discipline and work habits, team spirit.
According to her, the Ministry of Sports and Youth recognizes the power of sport and its potential to improve the lives of young people and is committed to creating an environment that contributes to the growth and development of young athletes, as well as improving and enriching the sports environment.
"I remind you that sport does not mean only competition, it is an opportunity for socializing, for reconciliation. Sport is a reflection of who we are as a society. As we celebrate the Month of Europe, let's use the power of sport to overcome divisions and step together towards the European future," said Ojdanić.
The general director for sports, Zoran Jojić, said that thanks to sports, he has friends all over the world.
"Doing sports will allow you to visit many countries, meet new cultures and people. Those people will be your true friends, not only on the field. You share difficult and joyful moments with them. Always do your best, always be better than yesterday , and tomorrow is better than today. We are witnessing that nowadays there is a lot of peer violence, and sports are the real values on which we should build our future. In order to achieve that, listen to your professors because I know you have something to learn from." said Jojic.
Handball player Milena Raičević emphasized that in today's society, children have wrong role models and that athletes should contribute to getting children back on the right path.
She told the elementary students to never give up and to fight for what they want, but to always make education their priority.
Handball player Vuk Latković said that the conditions for practicing sports are much better today than when he started training.
He invited the children to study and play sports because through sports they learn discipline, work, order and that they cannot make a mistake by making that choice.
Volleyball player Nikoleta Perović said that sport gave her a lot and that thanks to it she became a better person, more mature, more tolerant, more persistent and gained friends for life.
Water polo player Stefan Vidović said that he is proud to be a representative of Montenegro.
"Children look up to us, all of us here should try to be a good example and help you understand what is important. Sport is something that shapes you, with which you mature and become better and more tolerant people," Vidović said. .
