The adaptation of the facade of the Kolašin Local Museum building began today, and the works were opened by the President of the Municipality Vladimir Martinović and the director of the JU Center for Culture Branislav Jeknić.
The arrangement of these facilities, said Martinović, will contribute to the development of the cultural and touristic potential of Kolašin, and this, as he explained, is "the first adaptation of the facility after a long period of time".
Martinović said that the works that require the most time are those on carpentry, i.e. restoration of carpentry and work on the facade.
"The carpentry that is being restored is old and has, over the years, been exposed to various damages, such as wood rot, breakage, scratches, cracks or deformation, which requires precision in the work in order to restore the carpentry to its original condition. The work on the facade requires more time due to damage due to long-term exposure to weather conditions, which implies precision and great care in order to preserve the authenticity of the object. In addition, care must be taken to preserve and protect the original appearance and comply with regulations," he said.
Martinović reminded that part of the work is being carried out from financial resources provided by the previous administration, with a donation from the Capital City, while part of the money was provided by the Municipality.
Jeknić thanked that the President of the Municipality and his team "provided additional funds so that the building of the Native Museum shines in its full glory".
The Director of the Cultural Center reminded that the building, which today houses the Native Museum, was declared a state asset on January 1, 1906, by the decision of the then Government.
All state institutions were housed in that building for 12 decades. He pointed out that after the reconstruction, that building will be a true representative of the historical period and construction in Kolašin.
