Terrible images on the banks and in the bed of the Morača River in the Second Sanitary Protection Zone of the source of "Bolje Sestre" in the area of Grbavac - the Morača River carries dead animals, while on its banks there are numerous landfills of waste of construction and animal origin, announced the Information Service of the Regional Water Supply of Montenegro coast.
As they state, in Montenegro, an ecological country, unfortunately, awareness of the preservation of the environment, especially rivers and numerous springs, is at an extremely low level among individuals.
"Obviously, society must make significant efforts to constantly raise environmental awareness, but also to severely sanction any damage to the environment," they state.
They say that regular patrols of the Personal and Property Protection Service of the Montenegrin Primorje Regional Water Supply, on June 6, who knows how many times in the area of Grbavac, within the Second Sanitary Protection Zone of the "Bolje Sestre" spring, came across dumped construction and animal waste in several places . At the same time, as they add, it was observed that the Morača river carries dead animals and animal waste.
"The regional water supply company has on several occasions, in cooperation with DOO "Protection of the territory of Montenegro", with the patronage of the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism, i.e. the Directorate for Ecology and Climate Change, organized an action to clean and arrange the bed of the Morača River, precisely on the territory of the suburban settlement of Grbavci. After the mentioned operations of cleaning the Morača river bed, it was expected that awareness would work and that there would be no new dumping of waste in the coming period. Unfortunately, we are witnessing that these scenes are repeated over and over again and that individuals do not care about the damages that may be caused by jeopardizing the Morača River, Lake Skadar, and especially the spring of 'Bolje Sestre', which supplies water to the Montenegrin coast," the announcement reads.
As they say, the regional water supply company, as a socially responsible entity, will continue its daily tour of the Second and Third sanitary protection zones of the source of "Bolje sestre" in the future.
"In order to prevent any damage to them. It is expected that the residents of Grbavac will continue to make a significant contribution to preventing individuals from causing damage to both their own and state property by dumping waste. The regional water supply will also continue the practice of threats to the Second and Third sanitary protection zones of the source of the 'Bolje sestre', informs the competent authorities and institutions, and at the same time expects them to deal more decisively with the bearers of such phenomena, so that the aforementioned horror scenes are not repeated again and again," the statement concludes.
